What is NPORS?

The National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS), established in 1992, is one of the UK’s most prominent awarding bodies for workplace training. It offers flexibility by allowing training to take place onsite using the same equipment candidates will operate in their day-to-day roles.

Is NPORS Recognised?

Yes, NPORS is widely accepted across the UK construction industry as a credible alternative to CPCS. The inclusion of the CSCS logo on NPORS cards has increased their recognition, making them valid for most tier-1 contractor projects. Being recognized by Build UK further confirms NPORS as an equivalent to CPCS.

How Does NPORS Compare to CPCS?

  • Both schemes require candidates to pass theory and practical tests.
  • Upon passing, NPORS issues a “Trained Operator” card, similar to the red CPCS card, valid for 2 years.
  • Upgrading to the “Competent Operator” card (valid for 5 years) is possible through a Level 2 NVQ in Plant Operations, which includes onsite competency assessment.

Benefits of Choosing NPORS

  1. On-Site Training: Training and assessments can be delivered at your workplace using familiar equipment.
  2. Cost-Effective: NPORS is generally more affordable than other accreditation schemes.
  3. Industry Approval: NPORS qualifications are recognized across the construction industry, making them a practical and accessible choice.

NPORS Traffic Marshal (N133 Plant & Vehicle Marshal)

Course Overview

Elevate your career in construction with the NPORS N133 Plant & Vehicle Marshal course. This comprehensive program provides the knowledge and skills necessary to guide machinery and vehicles safely while ensuring affordability and convenience.

This course awards both the Vehicle Marshal and Plant Marshal cards, offering a cost-effective alternative to the CPCS A73 Plant & Vehicle Marshal card.

Duration

For new candidates, the course runs for two days, with a six-day self-study period between the training and testing days.

NPORS Cards with CSCS Logo

The NPORS card you’ll receive will include the CSCS logo, confirming you’ve passed the required CSCS test. This card is equivalent to the red CPCS “Trained Operator” card.
