CPCS Slinger Signaller Course

Our CPCS Slinger Signaller (A40A) courses run weekly, ensuring minimal waiting times and maximum convenience. With access to dedicated cranes and experienced trainers/testers, we’re fully equipped to provide exceptional training.

Through our partnership with a National Lifting company, we guarantee availability of cranes, course dates, and instructors at all times. We are proud to offer the highest pass rates in the South East, making us the ideal choice for those seeking comprehensive and effective training.

Course Content

This course covers the following key areas:

  • Determining the weight and dimensions of loads and effectively communicating with crane operators.
  • Using clear and precise signals to direct crane movements for loads of varying sizes and weights.
  • Understanding the responsibilities and roles of plant operators in the lifting industry.
  • Identifying and explaining different types of lifting equipment, accessories, and associated terminology.
  • Complying with manufacturers’ instructions, technical data, and relevant regulations.
  • Reading and interpreting essential documentation.
  • Conducting pre-use checks on lifting accessories and identifying non-serviceable items.
  • Assessing the serviceability of lifting accessories and managing their maintenance and storage.
  • Properly handling non-serviceable items and taking them out of service.
  • Estimating weights and identifying load centers of gravity.
  • Securing various loads to lifting hooks using appropriate procedures and equipment.
  • Directing and guiding load movements to specific locations safely and accurately.
  • Establishing and maintaining clear communication protocols on-site.
  • Ensuring safe working conditions and implementing safety measures.
  • Executing out-of-service and securing procedures for equipment.

Entry Requirements

  • A valid Health, Safety & Environment Test (completed within the last 2 years).

Teaching and Assessment

  • Training Duration: 3 days of classroom-based and practical training.
  • Testing: 1 day dedicated to CPCS testing.
  • For experienced workers who do not require practical training, we offer a 2-day fast-track course.

Tutors

Our trainers and testers are CPCS-approved professionals with extensive experience in Health and Safety and the lifting industry. They are dedicated to providing high-quality instruction tailored to your learning needs.

Certification and Renewals

Upon passing the course, candidates will receive a Red CPCS ‘Trained Operator’ Card, valid for 2 years. To upgrade to a Blue CPCS ‘Competent Operator’ Card (valid for 5 years), participants must complete a Plant Operations NVQ, which we can assist with.

On-Site Training

We also provide on-site CPCS Slinger Signaller Training at company locations. A trainer can be dispatched to your venue if you have a group of at least 4 participants. For more information, contact us at 02085072177.

    The full course lasts 4 days (3 days of training and 1 day of testing). Experienced workers may opt for the 2-day course.
