Course Summary
This refresher course is designed for individuals who already hold a valid PTS competency and wish to continue working on or near Network Rail’s infrastructure, including areas adjacent to DC Conductor Rails. The course allows delegates to maintain their certification by meeting the renewal requirements set by Network Rail.
Pre-requisites
To attend the PTS Recertification course, the following conditions must be met:
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Must have Primary Sponsor approval prior to booking
- Must meet the medical fitness criteria as outlined in Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124
- Must have passed a Drugs & Alcohol test as per NR/L2/OHS/00120
- Must have a sufficient command of the English language, in accordance with NR/S/CTM/021 (Competence & Training in Track Safety)
- Must be sponsored by a RISQS-approved railway company
- Must provide a PTS Work Experience Logbook with at least 4 completed and endorsed entries within the last 2 years, in line with RTAS Rules v2.0
- Entries must be countersigned
- For paper logbooks, a Line Manager signature in Section 3 (near the back of the book) is mandatory
- For digital logbooks, entries must include a Safety Briefing Reference Number; a manager’s signature is not required
- Must hold a valid PTS competency, or one that has expired within 56 days of the course date
- Must not be on learning support, as indicated by a green square on the Sentinel profile
- Must observe a minimum 12-hour rest period before attending the course, in compliance with Working Time Regulations (1998) and Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/003
⚠️ Delegates will not be admitted to the course if the Line Manager’s signature is missing from the paper logbook.
Assessment and Results
Upon successful completion:
- Your PTS Recertification (AC/DCCR) competencies will be uploaded to your Sentinel profile within 24 hours
- In the event of upload issues, we will aim to resolve them within 5 working days
