Level 2-3 | Level 3 Site Supervisor | Level 6 Site Manager
An NVQ in construction is a highly respected qualification that demonstrates your industry competence to both current and potential employers. For employers, it supports the development and retention of a skilled and trained workforce.
Many NVQs also provide eligibility for membership in professional organizations such as the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) and the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE). They can also help you obtain Gold or Black CSCS cards, while a Level 2 NVQ (Plant Operations) is necessary to upgrade from a Red to a Blue CPCS card.

What to Expect After Completing Your NVQ with Us

Who Needs an NVQ?
An NVQ is ideal for anyone looking to progress their career in construction. It is often required to obtain the CSCS card necessary for advanced roles. Employers highly value NVQs as proof of competence and adherence to industry standards.
For most higher-level CSCS cards and affiliate programs, an NVQ is mandatory. Therefore, attaining the right NVQ level is critical for advancing your career in the construction sector.
How to Get a Construction NVQ

- On-site Assessment: Avoid missing work by being assessed while on the job. Our assessor will visit your workplace to observe your skills and ask questions during a typical workday.
- Remote Assessment: If preferred, you can be assessed remotely by submitting video recordings of your work and other supporting evidence.
At its core, earning an NVQ is about demonstrating your ability to perform your job safely and competently. For lower levels, as little as three years of job experience may suffice. Higher levels may require additional study and preparation at home.
Our construction training experts are happy to meet with you in person or online to discuss your NVQ requirements and address any concerns.
How Long Does It Take?
The process depends on your motivation and schedule.
- Our assessor will visit your workplace between 2 to 5 times (or conduct remote assessments), depending on the level and your availability.
- Lower-level NVQs typically require fewer visits, while higher levels may take longer.
- On average, the entire process takes 10 weeks or less.
Registration and Certification
- Once you’ve registered and paid your fee, you can apply for a Red (Trainee) or Red (Experienced Worker) CSCS card (additional fees may apply).
- It is possible to skip levels if you have sufficient experience and training for a higher-level NVQ.
