By working together, instead of separately, Platform4 is expected to generate an additional \u00a3227m by delivering at greater pace and scale.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">The move will breathe life into forgotten corners of Britain\u2019s railway land, from disused goods yards to vacant industrial sites, kickstarting \u00a31bn worth of new developments across the country.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Neighbourhoods in cities including Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Cambridge will be transformed with homes, green spaces, shops and hotels \u2013 creating thousands of jobs.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Launching the Government-owned property company and appointing the chair Bek Seeley marks a significant milestone for the Government\u2019s Plan for Change commitment to build 1.5m homes, with Platform4 aiming to attract more than \u00a3350m in private sector investment.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">The company will tackle the challenges associated with building on railway land and will form partnerships with other public sector landowners to make the land more attractive to private developers.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander said: \u201cOur railways are more than just connections between places \u2013 they create economic opportunity and drive regeneration.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">\u201cIt\u2019s exciting to picture the thousands of families who will live in these future homes, the vibrant neighbourhoods springing up, and the new businesses that will launch thanks to these developments.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">\u201cPlatform4 will breathe new life into these spaces, delivering tens of thousands of new homes as part of our Plan for Change promise to build 1.5m homes, while reviving communities around rail stations, supporting jobs and driving economic growth.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Four sites already earmarked for development include Newcastle Forth Goods Yards, Manchester Mayfield, Cambridge, and Nottingham, which together will see over 2,700 new homes delivered and brownfield land transformed into vibrant neighbourhoods.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Newcastle Forth Goods Yard: opportunity for up to 600 new homes and unlocking additional new homes&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Manchester Mayfield: opportunity for 1,500 new homes&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Cambridge: a mixed-use development with 425 homes&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Nottingham: 200 new homes following 348 successfully delivered homes at The Barnum&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Deputy Prime Minister and Housing Secretary Angela Rayner said: \u201cWe are facing a housing crisis which has led to a generation being locked out of homeownership, all while land sits empty and disused across the country.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">\u201cWe said we\u2019d do everything possible to get Britain building, and that\u2019s why today we\u2019re setting out how we\u2019ll get more homes built across surplus railway network sites in line with our brownfield-first approach and our Plan for Change target of delivering 1.5m homes.\u201d<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Platform4 will champion putting stations at the heart of communities, unlocking growth, regeneration and opportunities in surrounding and connected areas. The company has been formed from the merger of London and Continental Railways Limited and Network Rail\u2019s Property Development team.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Profits generated from the property company will be reinvested into Britain\u2019s railways, supporting better services and infrastructure while delivering value for passengers and taxpayers.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Platform4\u2019s creation demonstrates decisive action taken by the Government to help rebuild Britain, helping to deliver new homes and the critical infrastructure that underpins economic growth. This infrastructure delivery will drive future productivity and higher living standards across the country, creating opportunities for businesses and workers alike.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">An established leader with a wealth of experience in transport-led regeneration, Bek Seeley, will Chair Platform4.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Having previously worked across both the public and private sector, Bek led Lendlease\u2019s development business in Europe for several years and now works in various roles supporting complex regeneration projects across the UK.
